Rachel Overmyer, RN, was floating on 7 Main in May 2015 when she was nominated by a patient for the DAISY Award, a monthly award giving to deserving nurses who are nominated by other nurses, patients, physicians and patients’ loved ones. Here is what the patient had to say about Rachel:

I wanted to write about my nurse Rachel who took care of me while I was hospitalized. I came in with a traumatic head injury and was struggling with the pain. Rachel went to bat for me, speaking with the doctor about a different pain management plan. Her plan worked!!!

Group on 4 Lacks gathered to celebrate the DAISY Award recipient, Rachel Overmyer.

“Also, her reassurance about my injuries was comforting, and you could see the compassion on her face.

“When the paramedics asked where I wanted to go, I told them: ‘Saint Mary’s, because I love the staff and how well I am treated there.’

“Rachel is so professional and I believe her personal care for me truly helped my healing process. You’re fortunate to have an employee like Rachel who can make a difference in a patient’s life.”

Overmyer was surprised by her colleagues during a brief ceremony hosted by Liz Murphy, CNO, and the rest of Overmyer’s team.

Congratulations to Overmyer on her accomplishments, and thanks for her delivery of great care!
