DAISY Award Honoree for September 2015 Julie Slade, from the Clinical Resource Center, received the DAISY award for the month of September 2015. Slade serves as the Work Environment Council president, so keeping her award a surprise was an especial feat for the WEC team! They pretended to have a meeting before their regular WEC meeting to get Slade to attend, and had to tell her that they were not able to select a winner for the month.
“You got me!” said Slade, as she was clearly surprised by her receipt of the DAISY Award.
The nomination reads: It was a very busy night on the seventh floor, but as our unit was the only available unit with open beds for patients, that meant the seventh floor was getting multiple admissions. The staff on the unit was composed of mostly new nurses. Needless to say, things were a little hectic. Julie was so supportive as CRC. She came to the unit, answered multiple call lights, asked staff if she could cover in any way, and covered for lunch breaks. As a charge nurse, I felt extremely supported by Julie, and I really appreciated her help.”
“I’m so blessed to work with all of you,” Slade said to the other nurses who were present as she received the award from Liz Murphy, CNO, on Monday, October 19, 2015.
