Congratulations to Jackie Mucinski, RN, from the Surgical Department, as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award for July 2013.
Directly from the patient’s nomination form:
“I came in February ’13 to have a procedure done. Jackie was my nurse. I told her that I was hard to get an IV started in. She injected me with a numbing medication prior to getting it started. I’ve never had anyone do that before. How nice that was. She was so kind and caring. She treated me like I was her best friend, rather than just another patient. I’m impressed. She wasn’t afraid to hold my hand or rub my shoulder when things were painful – just like a good friend would. She asked me about my family, what books I read, etc. She’s so much more than ‘just a nurse.'”
