The University of Michigan and Trinity Health plan to broaden health care access for employees of both organizations, including Mercy Health Saint Mary’s and Mercy Health Muskegon.
Under a new network access agreement, the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) has become a preferred recognized provider of select advanced medical services not currently provided by CHE Trinity Health facilities in Michigan, such as burn care and many pediatric specialties.
The list of covered UMHS services is found at mybenefits.trinity-health.org/michigan.
For the past few years, faculty, staff and retirees of University of Michigan enrolled in U-M Premier Care, the university’s largest employee health plan, have been able to select many Trinity Health primary care physicians during their annual health plan enrollment.
U-M plans to add even more providers and facilities statewide as part of their U-M Premier Care plan. Employees and retirees enrolled in the plan will have access to providers at Trinity Health facilities in Michigan at Premier Care’s highest benefit level.
This agreement expands access to care for about 44,000 U-M employees and 8,500 retirees who are eligible for insurance through University of Michigan and more than 25,800 Trinity Health Michigan colleagues.
