Congratulations to Meredith Miller, emergency services technician at Mercy Health Rockford Campus, who was nominated by Julia Guest, RN, as a deserving recipient of the Friends of Nursing Award for January 2016. The role of emergency services technician is new for the organization and is being piloted at Mercy Health Rockford Urgent Care.

A surprise ceremony was held in the Urgent Care, hosted by Michelle Pena, clinical service director for Emergency and Trauma Services & Critical Care, on Monday, January 11, 2016. During the ceremony, Miller exclaimed to her nominator, Guest: “I didn’t know you told people! I am going to cry.”

The excerpt from the nomination reads:

“Meredith, one of our Emergency Services Technician at the Rockford Urgent Care, recently helped me care for a patient with a finger infection. She helped him find the best price and then even covered the cost of his prescription. Meredith goes above and beyond for our patients. She truly is an amazing coworker and friend. I am proud to work with Meredith. I really appreciate Meredith going above and beyond as she cares for the patients in Mercy Health Rockford Urgent Care.”

Miller expressed her gratitude to her colleagues, who were hosting a potluck for her that day in her honor.

“I really appreciate working here. I feel like it’s a godsend.”

No surprise here. Meredith sparkles and shines at whatever she does. I know from personal experience she gives unselfishly of her time and skills to any of those requiring assistance. P,S. Nice shade of blue; the glasses are also a nice touch.

I am glad Meredith works in my neighborhood urgent care facility
