On Tuesday, March 4, WOOD Radio and The B.O.B. will host their annual Fat Tuesday Gumbo Challenge. Local restaurants will compete for the title of “Best Gumbo in Grand Rapids.”
Sous Chef Bryan Nader and Cooks Joe Serba Annie Wilterink will represent Mercy Health Saint Mary’s as they battle to prove that they have made the most delicious gumbo in the city.
“We’re going to create a healthy gumbo and serve it with a Cajun fried rice and a spicy peach and cheddar hush puppy,” said Nader.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample cups of gumbo for 50 cents each. Entrance is free and open to everyone. For every gumbo sample sold at our booth, Saint Mary’s Foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds.
The B.O.B. will offer Cajun food specials and will feature live music from Those Delta Rhythm Kings. Sampling starts at 4:30 p.m. and the winner will be announced at 8 p.m.
Come out to support the Saint Mary’s Foundation and our Nutrition Services team!
