While the goal was to “Hold It Through the Holidays,” we have found that self and team accountability has consistently led to a weight loss average of more than 1.5 pounds for the 5 years in a row we have held this competition.
Healthful behaviors that led to success:
Pat Barszewski from radiology said she walked the 5th floor of the Lacks Cancer center on breaks and cut down on portions.
Sharilyn Keilor from our Long Term Care Pharmacy said it was hard work and referred to the competition as “Hungry Over the Holidays” but was nonetheless successful.
Staci Schuitema from the Emergency Department said she worked out 45 – 60 minutes on a regular basis and focused on healthier, less processed carbohydrates.
Sherri Galmish said that it took a lot of discipline and hard work since she had her 11 grandchildren over during the holidays. She attributed her success to the good support from her NICU teammates.
