New Hybrid Operating Room Opens
Opened for cases on Monday, January 11, 2016, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Hybrid Operating room is equipped with the Philips Clarity FD20 angiography system, which delivers superb image quality at a fraction of the radiation dose, decreasing exposure for the operator and the patient.
The image quality allows the physician to quickly and confidently determine the optimal course of treatment across a broad range of procedures, then proceed immediately with an intervention whether surgical or endovascular. The vascular surgeon is able to navigate through complex anatomy with fusion imaging and Live Image Guidance™, integrate technologies seamlessly and perform open and minimally invasive procedures in a single room.
The opening of the Hybrid Operating Room marks another completed phase of construction for the surgery unit at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s. In addition to the Hybrid Operating Room, five other surgical suites were opened on January 11. The next and final phase is remodeling the former six surgical suites into four future operating rooms — one operating room will come online after its completion in summer 2016, and the others will be “shelled,” or reserved, until surgical volume proves the need for the additional operating rooms and certificates of need are approved.
