The Patient Assistance Fund of Saint Mary’s Foundation grants funds to help patients with the costs of transportation, medicine, and sometimes food and clothing. It allows the case managers and social workers at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s to provide something extra to the patients and families we serve. The following are examples of ways the fund has been used:

Basic Needs:

The Urban Platter gift cards so family members can meet their nutritional needs while patients receive care and treatment.

Supplement the cost of overnight lodging at Sophia’s House for families who want to be near their hospitalized loved ones but have limited financial resources.

Support Patient Healing: The Fund was used to purchase a pair of waterproof boots for a patient who had significant wounds on his feet but did not have the financial resources to purchase footwear to keep them warm and dry.

Creative Solutions to Challenges: The Fund was used to purchase a tape recorder on which a patient’s discharge instructions could be recorded. This allowed the patient, who had low vision, to receive not only the standard written copy of his discharge instructions, but an audio copy as well.

Give, and receive a limited edition Saint Mary’s Foundation Ornament if you donate a minimum of $50. Your donation could make all the difference for a patient in need. Grant a wish and be a part of this wonderful giving season.

Simply visit The Shoppe at Saint Mary’s, located in the front lobby of the main hospital, to make your contribution and receive your ornament. With questions or to request giving envelopes, contact the Foundation Office at 616.685.1892.
