New Roles for Familiar Faces – Changes Among Physician Leadership

Congratulations to the following physicians, who have recently accepted new roles within our organization!

Matt Biersack, MD

Matthew Biersack, MD has accepted the position of Medical Director for Clinical Quality for Mercy Health Saint Mary’s (MHSM). For the past three years, Biersack has served as the Medical Director of the Mercy Health Physician Partners (MHPP) hospitalist group in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Chair of the Clinical Quality and Utilization Improvement Committee (CQUIC). Biersack will continue to serve as a practicing hospitalist, providing inpatient care to patients at MHSM and assist Lisa Kinsey Callaway, MD, who will transition into the role of Medical Director of the MHPP hospitalist group in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Lisa Kinsey Calloway, MD

Lisa Kinsey Callaway has recently accepted the position of Medical Director, Mercy Health Physician Partners Hospitalist Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A board-certified Internal Medicine physician since 2000, Kinsey Callaway had been an adult hospitalist at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s since 2011. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Spectrum Health and Saint Mary’s in 2000 where she was chief resident. After residency, she was in private practice with Grand Valley Medical Specialists until 2011, serving as vice president of the group. Additionally, from 2007-2011, she served as the Clinical Documentation Physician Champion at Metro Health in Wyoming, Michigan.

Karen Kennedy, MD

Karen Kennedy, MD has recently accepted the position of Medical Director, Community Benefit Ministry in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  A board certified family medicine physician since 2002, Kennedy will continue to be the lead physician for two Community Benefit Ministry practices, Browning Claytor and Heartside Health Center. She completed her Family Medicine Residency as chief from the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Family Medicine Residency program in New Brunswick, NJ. Kennedy also sits on the Mercy Health Physician Partners Board, the Community Benefit Board, and is the Vice President of the West Michigan branch of the National Medical Association.
