What Michiganders need to know to #getcovered and #staycovered starting on Nov. 15.

On the eve of the second open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act, on November 14, Get Covered America (GCA), Mercy Health, Goodwill Industries of Grand Rapids, and special guest State Representative Brandon Dillon held a special press conference to detail what consumers need to know and where they can go for in-person enrollment help starting on November 15 when the second open enrollment period begins. Thanks to Randy Wagner, COO, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s, for hosting this special news conference.

“With the second open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act starting tomorrow, we are rallying partners and local leaders to get the word out to Michiganders about the new coverage options available to them,” said Erin Knott, Michigan State Director of Get Covered America. “The first open enrollment period in Michigan was a resounding success, but we have more work to do. Along with our new regional partners, we are to going deeper into communities to educate the remaining uninsured and connect them with free, in-person enrollment help.”

Thanks in part to outreach efforts by GCA and its partners, 272,539 Michiganders selected a coverage plan through the Marketplace by the end of the first open enrollment period. Of those consumers who enrolled, 87 percent received some sort of financial assistance to help them afford coverage, lowering monthly premiums by an average of 72 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
