The class, Parkinson’s Exercise and Recreation Class, commonly called PERC, is led by Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital staff, including Judy Overmyer, PT, who is pictured here, and sponsored by Mercy Hauenstein Neurosciences Movement Disorder program.

Twice each week, nearly two dozen people choose to attend the group, where staff provide exercises and activities designed to offset the challenges of Parkinson’s or other neurological disorders.

One couple has driven over 30,000 miles to attend throughout the eight years!

Participants are also provided with monthly social and educational sessions. “The class has become a support group for participants and their families,” said Overmyer.
