The first annual pumpkin decorating/carving contest in the Urban Platter was a success! With 24 entries representing 18 departments (two large departments had different shifts or work teams each contribute a pumpkin), it was Cardiovascular Disease whose pumpkin won the “hearts” of The Urban Platter guests on October 30, 2015!
Using an interactive display, Cardiovascular Disease asked visitors to “Pump my heart,” which created a stream of red food coloring that oozed out of the pumpkin. Nursing students and colleagues alike took to pumping the display.
“The winning department receives a pizza party,” said sous chef Bryan Nader, Nutrition Services, whose team hosted the contest.
“We were delighted by the level of participation and the creativity of our colleagues,” continued Nader. “We have some very creative people who work here.”
Other displays featured “popcorn,” gumball dispensers, a witch and a “Saint-o-poly” game by the Finance department.
Congratulations to Cardiovascular Disease on a job well done!
