After a thorough onsite visit, The Joint Commission notified Mercy Health Saint Mary’s it has earned re-certification in Advanced Inpatient Diabetes on January 30, 2015. The hospital had first received this certification in 2011, becoming one of only 80 hospitals in the nation, and one of only two in Michigan to do so.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to President Bill Manns, The Joint Commission noted that there were “no deficits found,” marking a second consecutive perfect score for the Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Certification for Mercy Health Saint Mary’s. The hospital received its first perfect score in 2013.
The letter continued:
“The Joint Commission would like to thank your organization for participating in the certification process. This process is designed to help your organization continuously provide safe, high-quality care, treatment, and services by identifying opportunities for improvement in your processes and helping you follow through on and implement these improvements. We encourage you to use the certification process as a continuous standards compliance and operational improvement tool.
“The Joint Commission is granting your organization a Passed Certification decision for all services reviewed under the applicable manual noted below.”
