Manns is eager to lead Mercy Health Saint Mary’s during this time of great change in health care. He looks forward to being highly visible in the community, approachable, and a bridge builder with a focus on building long-term and highly beneficial relationships that will contribute to distinguishing Mercy Health in a highly competitive market. His first day was August 19.

A native of Michigan and a graduate of the University of Michigan for undergraduate and graduate degrees, Manns is known as a strong relationship and consensus builder, as well as an analytical problem solver. He joins Mercy Health Saint Mary’s from the Alameda Health System in Oakland, California. Manns has served as chief operating officer since 2005.
Manns previously worked as an executive at St. John’s Health System in Warren, Michigan, in several capacities, including as chief operating officer and executive vice president of Providence Hospital, and at Mercy Health Services, the forerunner of CHE Trinity Health.
Manns and his wife, India, have a son, Justin, who is 13 years old.
Not one to sit back and relax, Bill Manns’ second day on the job on August 20 included a tour with the media of the new Heart and Vascular Center.
