In front of a crowd of more than 250 people and multiple members of the media, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s, formerly Saint Mary’s Health Care, unveiled new signage on June 3 as part of the brand launch for the newly formed regional system, Mercy Health.

Mercy Health reflects a new partnership between Saint Mary’s Health Care in Grand Rapids and Mercy Health Partners, now Mercy Health Muskegon, both of which are owned by Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health. The new system was created to offer greater access to services across West Michigan and the lakeshore, along with better communication with patients and health care providers, and easier access to specialists in the region.

“Today we’re officially unveiling the public brand that reflects the partnership we started internally more than two years ago,” said Roger Spoelman, Mercy Health regional president and CEO. “This brand comes with a commitment to our patients that they will always be treated as a person first and a patient second.”

The rollout of the new signage in Grand Rapids coincides with the launch of the new comprehensive brand advertising campaign, aimed at raising awareness of the new regional system and encouraging patients to “Exercise Your Voice” when it comes to their health care. The core message behind the new brand is the often overlooked but common-sense concept that an empowered patient represents the key to good health.

According to Phil McCorkle, Mercy Health Saint Mary’s president and CEO, uniting as a system is the best way to deliver on this promise.

“Our organizations have been working together in many ways over the past several years to deliver more seamless and accessible care to our communities,” he said. “Joining under a united name shows our patients that they’ll have more options for advanced services while we share knowledge and work together more closely across the system.”

Signage at the Muskegon campuses was revealed earlier this year, and new branding will roll out in physician offices this summer.

Mercy Health serves 19 counties throughout West Michigan with patient access to five hospital campuses, 58 physician offices, more than 1,300 physicians, 805 licensed hospital beds and 7,200 associates. Mercy Health is a member of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, one of the nation’s largest Catholic health systems, serving patients and communities in 21 states.
